Sue's Indian
website - On Castro St in downtown Mountain View. This is really a location that I should have reviewed many years ago, as it remains my favorite Indian restaurant in the South Bay. Sue's seasonings and curries are completely unique in my many years of avidly consuming Indian food, and they're almost universally wonderful. The ingredients are of high quality and never fatty or gristly. Likewise, the many sauces never develop that often-encountered (and in my humble opinion rather revoltin) oil-slick of excessive ghee.

All of the sauces are wonderful, and the Malai Kofta is especially unique, being very thick and rich and with a fascinating combination of spices that must include nutmeg and/or its brethren.
The naan is never over-thick, overly bready, and almost never overly buttered. It's the perfect consistence of light and airy with crispy bottoms, while remaining tender and chewy.

Most entrees are around $8-12 and offer a full dinner option (including rice, naan, dal and raita) for $4 extra.

The wine selection is limited at best, but they've the usual collection of imported Indian beers.

It's truly fantastic food, and I can't recommend it enough.
